FAQ
Straight answers.
Is Acalmai therapy?
No. Acalmai is a companion for emotional presence — it doesn't diagnose, treat, or replace mental health professionals. If you're going through something that calls for clinical support, it says so clearly.
Is it safe to talk about difficult things or a crisis?
Yes. Acalmai recognizes signs of intense distress and, in those moments, offers real support resources (such as the 988 Lifeline). It doesn't do clinical triage, but it doesn't ignore when something is serious.
Are my conversations private? Do they become training data?
Your conversations are not used for model training or advertising. We don't do invisible profiling or hidden scoring. Messages are automatically deleted after 24 hours. If you enabled Your Emotional Map, pattern nodes persist until you delete them — they're always visible and editable in your map settings, and you can export your full data at any time.
Does Acalmai remember me between conversations?
Only if you choose to. You can enable Your Emotional Map in your profile settings — Acalmai will then identify recurring patterns from your conversations over time and build a structured map of themes you tend to carry. You see everything in the map, can edit any entry, hide nodes from the AI, or delete them permanently. Nothing is saved without your explicit consent.
What's the difference between Acalmai and ChatGPT?
ChatGPT solves tasks. Acalmai offers companionship. It doesn't answer general questions, help with code or documents — it exists only to be present during emotional moments, without an agenda and without rushing. And unlike generic tools, it can remember your story if you want — with full transparency and control.
Do I need to create an account to use it?
Not to start. You can talk without signing up. An account (via magic link) enables a few preferences like language and name — but it's never required.
What languages does Acalmai support?
Brazilian Portuguese and English. Acalmai automatically detects the language from the text you write — no settings needed.
What happens if I'm going through something very difficult?
Acalmai recognizes crisis signals and responds with care — it never ignores, never minimizes. In situations of risk, it shows immediate help resources like the 988 Lifeline.
Can I use it every day? Is there a limit?
Use it as much as you'd like. No limits, no streaks, no notification asking you to come back. Acalmai is here when you need it — and silent when you don't.
